Like my ex girlfriend only seen me as a placeholder unfortunately I figured it out way too late cause I was fully invested but the thing is I was treated as only temporarily then discarded once I no longer had value

OBVIOUSLY NOT! What kind of question is this? I don't know anyone who WANTS to be a "placeholder" as you call it... Sounds like you value yourself only at the level of a scarf on a chair to hold the chair at the local elementary school's Christmas pageant. Is that REALLY you? Come on, man. Grow a set, will you? Don't give your time and attention to someone who treats you like your just some flimsy temp "placeholder"
