I think he used the wrong word, but I get the gist of what he means. You make a point to text him once a month, and consistently do it. I’d call that attachment issues more than anything, so I can see that being interchanged with clingy.

From personal experience, when a man tells you that you’re annoying, pesky, or the like, believe him. Don’t make him tell you twice. Just leave him be.
