Boyfriend mad at me for socializing in a game was I wrong?

My 34 year old boyfriend who lives at home with his mother got upset because we were playing vr together in horizon central. i started socializing with people and i was cracking jokes on some guy he ended up adding me and my boyfriend flipped out on me telling me he is disappointed in me and this shows a lot about my character. I told him this is literally just a game with people we will never meet in real life the whole point is to socialize. He stated how he hates that mostly guys add me but the people i am following are barely even active plus women barely add me. I told him lets be mature here and he said that most of my friends are black guys so he thinks i have a fetish now. I think this is totally uncalled for as i don’t look deeply into things like that now he’s saying I’m not considerate of his feelings and wants to sale his vr when the whole point of him getting one was so we could play together am i wrong?
