What do you think about this advice a rich guy gave me?

When I was around 19 I became friends with a very wealthy guy. He was a party animal and loved woman. I asked him how much of his success with woman was because of his money, because it's hard to date when you're broke.

He said:

You'll always loose money chasing woman, but you'll never loose woman chasing money.

It’s kind of efficiently said. You know, catchy to remember, and helpful to steer anyone in a rightful direction, but a lot of these things are just quite obvious.

I will state my “negative ray” here just to really point out this quote “ “ should not be taken as a means to directly undervalue or not / under appreciate women, and/or some women in our lives specifically, who have given, done, and said things that have helped us be who we are today, or bring out the person we were always meant to be.

And that ray comes in a statement as this: this is a quite obvious and dim statement of this man because it applies to anything imaginable- “you lose money chasing bottles of beer, or flat screen tvs, or cars, but you never lose beer or tvs, or cars when chasing money.” 🤷‍♀️

See, it sounds nice to the ear but it’s quite basic in nature. Even if it IS basic, it still is (and here’s my positive appreciation for a wealthy human striving for- I don't know a better way of living)- some people just need things like this to be broken down into the simplest form possible. 🤷‍♀️ It makes for a neater life and helps steer them towards more efficient things. Having priorities in order. Etc. So that’s the good thing I saw out of it, and for the men who are sweet hearted or good natured, then this could help them not put all their attention on people, or the wrong types of people, but on say, a stable career- FIRST. So good advice, but also pretty basic. Nothing profound, but maybe it would seem so for any man who has a high sex drive or something other than would make them be driven to females without first thinking and pondering about life. I’m sure good advice about sex and partners can come from any male or female. Any good parent who’s a father or mother. This was just my conclusion about the quote and context. 👍

Also I think the word looked for was ‘lose,’ not ‘loose.’

Lose is as in “win or lose,” or “to lose a pair of keys.” Loose is as in to loosen a knot 🪢 or bow/ribbon. 🎀

Hope this helps. I only mentioned cause I’ve been seeing this popular mix up a lot lately on GaG. Hopefully it’ll help some, but if not, that’s fine. Whichever people prefer, I suppose.

I've kept this quote in the back of my head for a while and I think it's advice both genders would greatly benefit from. Especially if they took it the extra step like you did.

Careful not to discount yourself. It sounds basic because it's a clever phrase but like most phrases it represents wisdom attained after many years of life. We're just lucky now to be able to learn from others.

It’s not even just about genders. I’ll take it further and add:

You (can) always lose money chasing (heaps of) friends, but you’ll never lose friends chasing money. 🤷‍♀️ Fake friends come with the “moolah.” I think it’s applicable with lots of things that are materials, and people in general. People always flock to those who have money, and the worthiest pursuits are literally of stable careers that also help to do good in the world than any mere consumable object. To me, this quote if milked the right way can produce the idea of having the right pursuit in one’s life, and realizing some people will only be king to us because of the money in our hand/pocket (s).

It can be very enlightening about people as a whole- not just a gender, and very guiding/instructing as to what to pursue and focus on in life. Having foundational/ benefit reaping objectives/goals.

But to leave it simple for a specific gender seems closed minded to me, can be taken the wrong way- misconstrued, and it’s limited. It should be expanded and clarified. Hopefully those who hear that quote or one like it will see the bigger picture and pursue finer things in life than just and solely relationships with people to fulfill them. Cause that can lead to a lot of discontentment, dissatisfaction, and empty bank accounts. 👍

Yeah, thanks for the share. Hopefully people, as we evolve, will not take whole lifetimes to figure out important/crucial lessons in life. Also goes to show the value of our elders. The old can learn from the young and the young can certainly learn from the old. It’s beautiful when it works out that way. 💪 💯
