In a relationship, should I ever tell a man about a big inheritance I've acquired?

Both dad and I received our share after his father (my grandpa) died 5 years ago. My dad and I are both an only child. This is something I've kept private and remain on low profile.

I've been living on my own afterwards. Is this something I need to share in a relationship? Is it really his business to know this? Or not.

No I don’t think it’s important. If he earns really well on his own and has accumulated a big fortune of his own then in my opinion there’s no harm to tell him. If he’s not financially stable and he might expect or is of the nature to expect the female on the relation to help the family grow financially and if that’s something you’re not willing to compromise on it’s best to keep it out of his earshot.

Well let me put it this way. I have a better than avg. net worth. Arguably sizeable. I don't exactly hide that fact. But I don't broadcast it to women I date. Because I want that fact to be icing on the cake. I don't want the woman figuring that into whether to date me or not.
I personally don't think there's any reason to divulge this before you marry a guy. Just don't hide it if he asks. There are ways around answering it directly. Instead of giving a number you can tell him, "I'm financially secure". Because that's the only thing anyone should be concerned about anyhow with a future partner. IMHO character is more important. I mean it wouldn't matter if you ha a million dollars a yr. If you had a million dollar a year cocaine habit.
