How do you go up to attractive men without getting rejected?

I only date handsome guys but they also don’t have to make the first most of time because they’re good looking so I have to instead. I hate going up first because unlike an average guy they can have high standards, specific types, and be pretty aggressive with their rejections. I know I wouldn’t want to date a guy who was mean anyway but it is still a huge ego blow when a guy turns you down goes back to his group of friends and they start rating you etc. How do you know what which to approach to avoid being rejected as much as possible and start conversation in a way that’s natural enough they can’t be too mean about it?
