Why are so many people so afraid of romantic rejection?

Both men and women. What’s the worst that can happen? I don’t get it.

It's not that they're afraid. It's that the vast majority of the time the juice isn't worth the squeeze.

There was a time when women gave most guys a chance. That's not the case. And most the time women just use men as a scratching post. Men have caught on to this. Couple this with the fact that women have gotten much more aggressive. Or more accurately a segment of women. They'll just flat out let a guy know when they're DTF. So there's no point in making an effort towards a woman when I another one will just flat out give a guy the keys to the kingdom without having to do anything.

I think most spend days or weeks planning for one specific person, so if that fails they get deflated from losing the investment of time and energy. I just cold approach. If I get rejected, which happens a lot, oh bummer I lost the two minutes I invested.

Getting doubts in your own value. No one likes opening up to someone and getting rejected its clearly not something nice to experience espacially if its by someone you love.
