Got a new job at a firm where my ex works. Is it a good idea to take that up? Also will he think following him?

We split apart a while ago as he couldn't commit but expects me to wait. He keeps in touch once in a blue moon with a simple text and no communication.

We met one day and I actively ignored him and he saw my profile actively saying looking for job. Then I texted as bulk message, asking for a referral to all my contacts and he simple said ok. So when he messaged again asking if im in town, i went a complete ghost mode.

I have zero interest in him now and doesn't plan on anything.

Recently I got a couple of job offers. The highest offers me double payment along with several perks including international relocation. It was my dream to work here coz of the exposure.

But came to know he works there. Should I take that up?

Your situation is exactly what I've preached for some time now: don't ever ghost an ex because you really never know when you'll run into them again, especially if it's on a new job. Hell, they could even be your new boss.

You are not blameless here. You've kept him as a contact and say he keeps in touch as if it's one-sided but I imagine you probably still answer those texts of his. Or at least leave him on Read. When you sent out your bulk text you would have to be aware that he would get it as well. If he's your ex and you have no interest in him anymore, why do you still have his number? I think you want us to think that you aren't communicating with him but that he only texts you.

If you take that job he will probably think there's hope for a reconnection, or that you even knew he was there and are trying to get close to him. If you seriously no longer want a connection with him, don't take the job. And delete his number too.

Is it the best job offer? Will you have to work directly with him or him be your boss?

If it is not the best job offer than don't do it. If he will be in your direct department don't do it.

If you are in a relationship absolutely not. If fact your boyfriend should leave you if you take this boundary crossing job.

If you are single, if this is the best offer if he'll be in another department and you won't see him much then maybe take it.

If the breakup is fresh I wouldn't take that job but if you both have healed and moved on, I see no reason not to

Unless you are going to regularly run into him and perhaps work together, it shouldn't be a problem working at the same company. Your choice, of course.

You're there for work, not relationships. Treat him as you would any other colleague. If he wants "more" then cut that shit down.
