For me it’s not about standards but about what I find attractive. I know I’m not average and I refuse to be treated like that but there are more girls on my level in my country than boys. So yes it’s a recipe to remain single because the decent looking guys have plenty of options. Even if you try elite dating apps and go through 1000 profiles, you can hardly find 10-20 men who have what it takes. Unfortunately they have 100+ women like me vying for their attention. So I routinely see women who could become Bollywood actresses or even models in my country with men who aren’t even average. Many women have to settle.

Shouldn’t this be every Indian girl’s dream then?

I just know that women with light features are glorified a lot more than men with similar features in my country. For some reason, guys with lighter eyes seldom make it big. Even he succeeded because of his dad in the industry. They want to encourage a more European appearance among women and a more Indian appearance among men. So the average 4s think they can troll any girl who doesn’t have blue or green eyes. Even the film producers are so jealous of a more Eurocentric male appearance that they hardly let these actors become popular and most women actually like them but men with lighter features are more likely in my country to prefer women with lighter features. So they feel rejected and start dreaming about dark men who are already fantasising and even getting selected by women with light features.

Since they also dream of Emma Watson more than any Bollywood actress, I feel compelled to tell them that I also dream of a Hollywood actor.

Many Indian guys who are literally obsessed with white girls get mad and even white people (men and women) insult me for this. I ask why? Why can a man be both dark and pale and loved but a woman has to be a Nordic blonde? And especially in India 🇮🇳, why can a man look Indian and be loved but the woman has to look at least half white? If I feel offended as a woman who has been told that she is Middle Eastern, Latina etc. then imagine how bad those Indian women feel who look more ethnic.

As a much lighter skinned Northern girl, I can’t even imagine what my South Indian sisters who tend to have a caramel skin more often have to go through. Even I feel the pressure.

I am pretty sure my partner will tell me I’m not Angelina Jolie at some point but I’m not stupid enough to cry because I will tell him he is not Henry Cavill

I think everyone has their own standards

Like how they look, how they dress, thier job, hobbies, their view in life, religion, thier smell, etc.

There are a lot of different people and we all are not the same

The standards might be conscious or unconscious.

In cases of unconscious standards these are the things you find you like or don't like about someone after spending some time with them.

That is why it is important to know your own standards even if only some of it to avoid plunging in a relationship you may or may not want

Having your own standard is a must in a dating. In that way, you can genuinely connect with people and say no if theirs doesn’t align on yours.
