When to say I love you?

I recently started dating this guy I’ve been friends with for 2-3 years. We haven’t quite hit 3 months yet. I really wanna tell him that I love him but I also don’t want to say it too soon even though I’m sure of what I’m feeling.

Do I say I want you to know that I love you and tell him that he doesn’t have to say it back? Or do I just say it and see what happens?

Also he’s told me he really likes me, any insight into what that means and if that’s any indication of how ready he is for me to tell him I love him?

Cause the last thing I want to do is say “I think” I love you 😂 to avoid being too forward. I think that would be weird.

Even though we do joke and say I think I like you. Just a little. Maybe 🤦🏻‍♀️

I think you shouldn't say it until you get married. Usually, when you say 'I love you,' the other side becomes more confident toward you. They start giving you less value and affection than before.

I’m not afraid of rejection. I just want to respect the fact that it’s only been three months. I don’t wanna jump the gun

Understand what you mean. Good news is you have known him for 2-3 years, which gives a little grace. I would be honest and tell him that you love him and you are okay if he is not there yet, but you want to express how you feel. How do you feel about that?

The right time to say “I love you” is when you genuinely feel it and believe that the other person feels the same. There's no specific timeline or formula.

I would want my partner to say it when they feel they mean it. I would also want my partner to understand if I don't say it back as it takes a loooong time for me to fall for someone.
