How soon to you say "I love you"?

As you guys know, me and my now girlfriend made it official yesterday and although we haven't known eachother very long, we've talked a TON and learned a lot about eachother. I've jokingly said "I love you" to people and I've said it to her, too and she knew I was joking. It's hard for me to be able to tell if what I feel for her is love, seeing as how I've never felt loved by another person nor felt that for someone else in my life, but what I do know is that my feelings for her are strong. As you can see, she said it to me and I said it back, it felt amazing🥰. by the way, I blurred out a dirty joke I made so this post wouldn't get taken down😂. When do you usually say it?

I really do believe that you’ll know you’re in love one day without ever actually realizing it. It just comes up on you and that’s when you’ll be able to say it outright without question. I was in your position many years ago - not knowing if I was feeling love for him or something else, etc, simply because I never had that experience before.

However, do be careful that you’re not confusing lust with love. Lust isn’t bad - it’s what draws us to potential partners - but it can cloud your feelings for the first little while.

That’s good, but be careful that sexual attraction is not so low on your priorities list that you end up friend zoning each other. The pendulum swings both ways here. It’s a careful balance.

To me, love is a really strong word therefore I only say it when I'm absolutely sure that what I'm feeling is really love and not just infatuation. Said it to my boyfriend after about a year of relationship, while we were planning to move in together.

I want to say exact this to my girlfriend for about a month, but I know, she would not like to hear it yet.

In my opinion, it is the right time to say it, when you have lived a considerate time together in the same household, when you have seen literally every aspect of her life, not just during "dating situations".

When you know all her downsides (and she knows, that you know all of them) and still want to be together forever, then it is the right time to tell her ❤

Defo say it back to her. That’s wonderful!!! Just don’t necessarily assume that saying I love you to each other means you guys are gonna get married and live happily ever after. I really hope you do, but you’ve still got a long way to go.
