DM’ed this guy a few mo back. We had only ever worked together in college but I was curious about him. He was responsive and we hit it off. Mainly sending memes and such. I asked if we could hang out in person a few times but he couldn’t because of schedule or location (2 hour drive away). However he eventually agreed to do a video call.
We started FT and had a good time talking about random things. I was having fun and he expressed the same. He even took initiative and made the calls himself and plan the next one. At some point during our 3rd/4th calls he randomly told me he had sex during one of his finals in college (?) and started talking relationship history. He’s an attractive guy who’s dated a lot and told me about what he’s learned about dating over the years. He joked that girls “should say they like guys first” I then asked if he was seeing someone to which he said yes a LDR, but it was rocky atm.
The next time we called he started asking about my relationship history and joked about me being “asexual,” and I did openly talk about why I hadn’t dated before (fam issues). This time he said his partner and him were on good terms. We agreed to call on a later date.
However I realized that all these relationship questions were crossing a line I didn’t want to cross. Esp now that I knew he was seeing someone seriously and I had gotten carried away with our convos.
After that last call, he DM’ed days later saying needed to smth off his chest and wanted to FT sooner. He told me it was smth he had discussed with his partner and it hadn’t changed their relationship. I refused and told him I wasn’t comfortable interacting with him in general knowing he’s seeing someone and we had already talked about relationships/sex. He said he wanted to still be friends but I just ended the convo.
Should I have done smth diff? I think he’s a nice if not arrogant guy but I like talking to him in general. I’m not sure if I should have heard him out or sm…
