Guys, Why does my guy friend keep asking me out?

I clearly told him or hinted him that I don’t like him and only see him as a friend.
Every dance we had he ALWAYS asked me to go with him and I said no. Don’t get me wrong, he’s sweet, funny, caring, honest and crazy at times but he’s cool, but I see him as a brother. My best friends and peers tell me that he really like me. I gave him a chance and went to the dance with him, twice. It was fun but no sparks during both times. He never asked me out in real dates thought. We’ve known him since 4th grade. My parents know him and his family and they like them. Great friends. So my bestie, her boyfriend and I hung out and reunited with our guy friend that we haven’t seen in seven years. We hung out three weeks ago. We parted ways for a while. My best friends boyfriend asked him why he don’t have a girlfriend when he asked him if he had one. Then she joked that I was his girlfriend. I was like……okay I didn’t know we were a thing. My best friend screamed said was like, “Girl! What the hell? You didn’t tell me you guys are dating! If it’s true. If not, give him a chance. You’re blushing. Whoooooooo!” I was like, “Nooooooooo!!! We’re not dating. He was joking.”
Our guy friend was like, “Yeah dude…. joking.” But he looked a little crushed. I told my parents about that but it was a joke. My dad said maybe I should go out with him. My parents sees him as boyfriend material and one time when we were teens he hinted me that he would make an excellent boyfriend and the guys I’ve been dating weren’t right. Really dad? I think my parents are pushing me to date again since I’m almost 26.

My guy friend has been texting me a lot ever since.

What you need to ask yourself is: what do you think you're going to get from some other guy that you aren't going to get from this guy? And has your dating experiences backed up this hope? Do you have successes that reinforce this belief, or do those beliefs just come from chick flicks and women's magazines that are promising you the world, but never deliver?

This guy seems pretty devoted to you. Are there tons of other men around you who are devoted to you like that, so you have plenty of choices, and can easily dismiss this guy? Do you know how uncommon such devotion is?

In my experience, women are taught that they should expect to get everything they ever wanted, like some fairly tale, and that they'll find a PERFECT partner who is exactly what they want. Do you know ANYONE who has that, who isn't a character in a book, movie, or TV show? I strongly doubt it.

It's your life and you can do what you want, but you're the one who is going to have to live with the consequences of your choices. Make sure you aren't making choices that you're going to feel deep regret about 20 years from now.

well clearly he can't cope with his feelings for you and thinks that persisting is something that'll get you one day. so yeah. best not to keep such friends around for their own sake. i'm speaking from my own experience being in this guys position. just don't be friends with them. helps them move on.

Some people absolutely refuse to take no for a answer and unfortunately it may get to the point where you even have to cut him off as a friend. It’s normal to have feelings for someone but if the other person doesn’t feel the same way they need to respect that.

Maybe you could help him find someone but he’s wasting his time chasing after you. He’s ruining even having a good friendship with you.

You are being mature not wasting his time or your own time if there isn’t any sparks. As for me if I ask someone I figure if they are into me they will say yes. If they like me after that they know where to find me. It’s not worth wasting time.

I know he likes me but I don’t like him back but people keep saying I do like him and I refuse to admit it. My best friend jokes that I’m not single anymore. Lol.
