What do you hope to achieve by beating him up? To cause him physical pain. Violence is never the right answer. Show him that you don't lower yourself to his level but that you have class and don't need to beat him up to get even.

Talk with him and find out the reasons why he cheated on you. Cheating only occurs because the cheater thought he had a reason to cheat. What is that reason and when you know, you can learn from it.

Two wrongs don't make a right. Show him that you are intellectually superior and that you are capable to keep your dignity, even in such a case.

Simply make him your ex boyfriend.

No, you don't want to beat him up, besides, assault is against the law. You want to ask him why, or... maybe even that. If you really like this man, see if you can talk and see why he cheated. And ask yourself if you can live with this knowing what he's done. If you can--then ask him to make a promise it doesn't happen again. If it does--then you have your answer--leave him. You're in your 30's so, you should know by now what you value in men.
