I'm going on my first date since my breakup with my ex on Sunday and I am super nervous because I am extremely shy. I don't know what to really say or what to ask the guy.

Just see if you both have common interests in things and just be yourself , and don’t rush into anything , considering you just ended things with your ex , it’s going to take ya some time to move on from that , and jumping into another relationship is not really a wise move , just have fun and don’t rush anything

How did you meet him?

It's just a first date, so you just need to stick with the basics. Where does he work, what does he do for them, how long has he been with them, what got him interested in that line of work? What kinds of movies or TV shows does he watch? What's his favorite music? Die Hard is a Christmas movie. Where did he grow up? Does he have siblings and what do they do? What were his favorite subjects in school?

The first date is just for feeling each other out to see if you could possibly be a good match and if there should be a second date. That said, just stick to the basics and icebreakers. Relax and have fun.

As for you be yourself & as for meeting in the park it’s going to be a walk in the park. Look at things in a simpler way & don’t look at it as a date look at it as two people simply meeting. As for questions when it comes to questions just remember it’s not a job interview & at the time just let the conversation flow naturally & whatever comes to mind comes to mind. You got this!

On the flip side you always Plan B & if you draw a blank just start asking some of the questions people have asked on here.

I suppose you're nervous because you believe there is a right thing to say, or a right way to behave. Well, unless you're a psychopath, there is nothing right or wrong lol, there will be two, relatively clueless people talking. At best, one of you will going to pretend he's not clueless, which is just a mask.

Shyness is a conversation starter in itself. That's even a very interesting topic I'd say because talking about it might defuse the issue itself, at least a little. Worth trying :)

Ask if he has any exes that would possibly interfere or complicate a healthy and potentially fruitful relationship if you guys wanted to pursue your interest in one another. Ask him if he has kids and vice versa. be upfront if he asks the Same questions you ask and if by chance you do have children from a previous relationship, don't rush into introducing them to one another until you get a genuinely good feel for them and their intentions and true character. Other than that talk about interests, hobbies, and future dreams or things you want to do at least once in life before kicking the bucket. It's always fun hearing what others ideas of an extreme desire they have in mind is.

The only thing you can do is your mindset. You can either be a nervous wreck or you can trick your mind into adopting an upbeat cool attitude.
