Am I considered a cougar for dating a guy 9 years younger than me?

I'm going to be 33 in a week and he is 24. I've never been with anyone that young. That's almost a decade younger than me. I feel kind of bad but I know I shouldn't feel that way.

@simslover92 What's to feel bad about? Cher is dating a guy SEVERAL DECADES younger than her. I had a fling with a woman who was 3 decades older than myself when I was 35.  Life is too short to have such thoughts about enjoying your life with a younger person especially if he cares for you.

The term "cougar" is usually used for women that get with men that are about 10-15 years younger than themselves. There is nothing wrong with being a cougar.

I would say a creepy age gap is more like 18 year old girl with 50 year old man or vice-versa.

Stop worrying about societal norms.

I would say one thing you SHOULD take into account though, is if the guy wants kids or not. If he wants kids and you're unable to or don't want any, that can pose a serious issue.

I used to see this all the time when I first got to Japan. Those Japanese chicks would be in their 30's and even into their 40's and they'd prowl around, like the cougars they are for fresh 20-year-olds to lock into relationships. We'd nickname them with names like Mufassa and Scar. Oh and the drinking age is 20 over there so these kids were getting blasted by the alcohol and then getting rubbed up by the likes of the Pink Panther who is what the Japanese called "parasite singles" but we just called them the Thunder Cats. It was like their job to go out there and rob some cradles every payday.

Some of my best relationships even though they didn’t last.

I don’t see anything inherently wrong with it but you do have to temper your expectations.

You’re well into adulthood he’s just dipping into it.

You might want more stability considering the “been there done that” of your 20’s
He might still want to live his own experiences.

That’s what tanked it for me:
I couldn’t give up on the dumb youthful mistakes and just settle into a mature adult even though I recognized the difference back then.
I willingly chose stupidity because I wanted to have no regrets.

So be mindful that you’re the older person in the relationship so it’s unfair to expect your new partner to speed up his growth to match you

Look honestly , he is far too young , he's looking to you because he needs guidance and is probably totally incapable of making decisions , he looks to you as an authority figure , to keep him on the correct path , but these kind of guys ( I've seen 100s literally ) they always have an agenda , it will not be positive for yourself.
