I went to wash my car yesterday and while I was cleaning my car mats some guy helped me get them out of the machine. We started talking and he was very mellow and funny. I don't know how but he made me feel comfortable, he asked for my number and I gave it to him. He texted first and I don't know why but I’m getting so shy. This isn’t something I normally do.

I’m a dude so I don’t really get hollered at for my number too often, haha. I guess I’d give it out, no real harm in that. I’d probably just say I wasn’t available if I didn’t want to. I guess last time I went to Austin and was on Sixth Street, these two girls came up to me and said “our friend thinks you’re fine” and asked me for my Snapchat. I gave it to them, even though I was thinking “this chick must be rough if she’s not coming over herself”😅😝 Never heard from her though. I kind of sparred with one of the girls because she was trying to give me shit about having an arrowhead on my necklace and asked if I was at least 1/8 Native American, and I was kinda like “Child, please…”, lmao, so they might’ve gone back and told her I was a dick or something😂

Don’t be a loser and just go out on a date with this guy already, he sounds chill😜

I don’t think the phone number is such a huge deal.
It’s not like giving your address and a copy of your house key.
If you don’t like the person you can block them with one click.

As for giving it to a stranger: I admit no girl has ever just asked for my number on the street although that’s not surprising it’s definitely a guy thing.

I've seen and done what is known as “pickup” in the past but I never really dissected it from a woman’s perspective.
He made you feel mellow and comfortable and that made you interested in getting to know him more. That’s fascinating considering guys don’t operate like that

In real life where you can look into the person's eyes you can hear his voice his tone and if he makes you feel comfortable hell yes go for it you never know what will happen but he sounds like a good guy

I’m very careful who I give my number to some people are plain crazy…. They will call you all hours of the day and night. They will give your number to other people. Just… you can’t trust some people.

Some people can seem great but I don’t know. For me. I like to trust someone before giving my number. If they want to add me on Facebook or something. That’s fine…. But it will take time to get to know someone before they’re coming close to getting my number.

Of course I do if I feel the connection is right of course I will you don't find out the real person that you have to give your phone number to until they actually call you or don't call you. If they don't call you it was probably something that you didn't need if they do call you things could really spin out of control that could be one of those people that are crazy and you find out later or it could be somebody that you actually really like talking to and that could lead to other shit you got to be open-minded and want to take the good with the bad

Given how codes of social conduct, I know of, are set, me being asked for my number is very unlikely lol. In such a purely theoretical situation, I suppose I could give my number if circumstances were right, such as being available and feeling like this person is really standing out. But I would not be at ease with such a start, since the romantic ambiguity would take a lot of space, too soon and too quickly, for me.
