Do I have daddy issues?

I am only attracted to 50+ men. I love everything about older men... gray hair, glasses, and I'm especially turned on by a controlling man.

Does this mean I have daddy issues? I didn't have a bad relationship with my father so that's why I'm not too sure.

You say that you didn't have a bad relationship with your father, and fair enough, but that doesn't necessarily mean you had a "healthy" relationship either. Everyone tends to think that whatever their relationship was with their parents is what's "normal", but often it isn't normal or healthy.

Clearly I don't know you, or your father, and I have no idea whatsoever how you were raised, so I'm just going to throw out some common reasons why this can happen. Some of these might not apply to you, and some might, but either way, it can give you some idea what might have gotten you to this point.

Perhaps your father was in your life, but didn't spend enough time with you or didn't give you quality attention, or maybe just a really small quantity of attention. Many girls feel "abandoned" even though their parents are still married and their dad lived at home - maybe he worked a ton of hours to make ends meet, or maybe he spent most of his free time out of the house (some men will practically live at a local bar when they aren't at work), or maybe he just didn't prioritize you (and perhaps your mom and/or siblings).

Maybe he WAS there, but he just wasn't a strong, leader of a man. Perhaps your mom "ran" the house and dictated the decisions, and he just went along. Maybe he just didn't make you feel safe and protected. Maybe you just didn't see him as strong or smart or able to solve problems. Most girls look up to their dad, and feel like he can figure out any issue and solve it, but if your dad wasn't that way, it can make you crave that.

Most women who have daddy issues aren't looking for a FATHER, but something of a "father figure" - meaning a man who is strong, protective, a leader, who is confident, takes charge, and makes her feel safe. This also means being emotionally mature ("he's my rock") to help keep her emotionally grounded. Older men tend to have these qualities - not ALL older men, certainly, but as a generalization, most older men have been there, done that, gotten the T-shirt, and most importantly, learned hard and painful lessons, and so they've gained information and wisdom. And if you've grown up without those things, it's normal to crave them, and to quickly figure out where you're going to find them.

There are women out there just like you that has had the perfect relationship with their father it means that you like older men you like older men because the way they treat you the way they make love to you the way they make you feel the way they communicate with you it doesn't mean you have daddy issues I mean you can look at it like that that's the societies way of programming you to believe in something I think I think you just kinky and hot probably and there's nothing wrong with that I kind of like women like you anyway! They know who they are they know what they like and what they don't like and they know that they're happy with a certain type of man and it's nobody else's business about that I think you're perfectly fine I think you would be a good catch for any older guy and I think you should just smile and go with it

Now after saying all that so you and your dad must not have had the best relationship or you didn't have one at all and that still doesn't mean anything

I know it's different with a girl and a father versus a guy and a father but I mean I went through a real father and two stepfathers and you would think that I have that issues I didn't meet my real dad till I was 30 something and to be honest with you I always wanted to know who I was but I mean in the long run I found out who I didn't want to be at all three of those men so it doesn't really matter you are you as long as you are happy then go for it go with it I think it's a sexy kink myself and there's nothing wrong with that either but if you feel like you have daddy issues then find your dad and get it taken care of I don't think that's what it is though there are so many women out there that love older men and I'm an older guy so I experiences and they don't have daddy issues they like exactly what you like they like to be manhandled and loved all at the same time

I think all women have some sort of daddy issues especially if their fathers were horrible to them, not there for them, was there but didn’t give them love. There’s many reasons. There’s nothing wrong with finding older men attractive. I’m the same. I have a crush on an older man but I don’t see his age as an issue.

No , you just like older men and you like being submissive , being a submissive girl is the only kind of girl I would consider dating and being in a relationship with because I love girls’ that love feeling safe and protected by me , that look up to me , I don’t necessarily control a girl but I will keep her in line if we are in a relationship and she is doing something that could jeopardize our relationship. @gemb00 hits the nail I think. If your father didn't give you love, omg you have daddy issues. If your daddy gave you love and was exemplary, omg you have daddy issues because you want his qualities in a man. So you can't get out of this meme and it doesn't help.

If a concept doesn't help than it is not useful and is just a hook to hang a hat on. So I'd suggest discard the daddy issue concept and just get on with life.

If you like men with life experience that is what you like. You are not the only woman that does. The only thing to think about is that 20+ years does mean that when you are 60 he will be 80+. So there are practicality aspects.
