Should I end a relationship with a longterm online friend who wants a relationship with me?

I met this guy online about ten years ago. He is 26(m) and I am 27(f). We started out as friends and we would call and facetime each other once in a while. We met on instagram in 2013. I flew to go see him once in 2021 because he does not live in my state, he also came to see me once in 2022 and the duration of the trip was about five days. In 2022 he told me he wanted to have me. Come see him again and he would pay for the flight, which he never did. He would constantly tell me how he wanted to be there for me and be with me and support me. About a month ago, he got a salary paid job and told me he wanted to help me and possibly live together. I'm going through a lot right now. So I asked him for some money to help with a medical bill, he told me he would send it, but never did, and he goes out to bars and. restaurants often. Not to mentionHe forgot my birthday and when I called to remind him about it. He was at the mall buying his friend's gifts ( never bought me one in all my years knowing him). Basically, he did not send me any money to help and he forgets to call me. I want to end the relationship completely as friends and all communication, because I feel he is unreliable. I feel a little bad for this, because of the relationship we built over the years. He is too inconsistent to be my friend or a lover, should I tell him that I don't want to talk anymore or should I just move on? He tell me he loves me, but I don't know.

From just seeing the title, I would say no, but reading the details, it does not sound like he wants a relationship with you. Someone who wants a relationship with you doesn't make a promise and then break it.

10 years is a long time, especially since you've met each other. Weird that he's acting like this. Maybe it's because he thinks you don't want a relationship with him, but still.

I think it's hard to just let go of someone you've been talking to for 10 years and even met. I think you should just have an honest conversation with him

Just continue as friends. Meet less, talk for shorter periods. Don't end it all at once. It's most logical way.

Move on along. I believe what you having is called limerance. It's where you miss what y'all "had" together. I don't think he's fully invested in the relationship anymore. I'm sorry 😔

Based on the information provided, I wouldn't get together. If you value the friendship, work on that together. Though I don't think he's necessarily looking for anything beyond that.

I figured he didn't care about me any more, tbh i don't really value the relationship to full extent, I've tried to cut him off a fee times and came back for empty promises
