Is this an ex, stalker or scam?

I received this message last night. The message came from an unsaved number from an area code where my ex lives, but he doesn’t have a local number as he’s from out of state. The message of the text makes me think it’s referring to our breakup, after which I immediately blocked him and haven’t spoken to him since. It’s 8 months later now.

As personal and creepy as the message gets, I can’t help but feel as this might also potentially be a scam. However I am struggling to believe this as well - my name which I’ve blocked out, is a nickname that I use with friends and family, and isn’t my legal name.

I searched the number on WhitePages and BeenVerified and it’s labeled as an Onvoy number, with no name or history attached.

And thoughts, experiences and resources/tips are very appreciated.

Yeah, this is weird. Creepy that they refuse to say who it is... I would probably have blocked it, too.

I had a girl do that and it was VERY creepy... it was either an ex, or that ex (we were dating at the time) put her up to it. Flirty and weird - like she knew more about me than I had told her.

But even she still said who she was when I asked, though she was a bit cagey about it. I was diplomatic about it once I found out who it was - or who she said she was. (We can hang out in large groups, only as platonic friends, if the girlfriend is there, sure... but I'm not going behind anyone's back) I think I blocked her, but don't recall.

Definitely a stalker.. Scammers would've tried to slickly get info out of you and would've kept talking to you to get to it eventually.. But yeah that's pretty damn creepy..
