What are your thoughts on the half your age plus 7 rule when it comes to dating?

I have heard this recently. I have also learned that just because someone is legal age does not mean you should date them.

Si I'm almost 46. Half plus 7 says I can date age 30 and up? That's actually younger than I'd consider for relationship. I go ten years younger max. And a 60 year old with a 37? Not impossible but extremely rare a 37 year would date a 60?

And that doesn't work for like under 22 year olds which makes totals under 18.

Legal age is just a protection. There as a guide for mental and physical development. But everyone is different so some people may be mature or ready sooner than others. I settled down at age 19 with a husband for 12 years. I felt mature enough at the time.

This is a silly rule that somebody made up and it makes no sense. There are many other reasons and things to consider when getting involved with someone.
