Does a guy being particular about who he dates mean he is picky?

Yes that is exactly what "picky" means in this context. It means he will only date certain specific people who meet his specific criteria. Now, traditionally that means "he only dates the hottest girls" But not necessarily.

I consider myself very picky. But I don't mean "I only want the hottest girls" at all.

I have different criteria. All of mine have to do with the girl herself, not how she looks. It's a values thing. I need to know she shares certain beliefs and seems like she has certain personality traits (e. g. believes honesty is of the utmost importance to her; kind; empathetic; same view of sex and the role sex plays in a relationship; believes in the concept of love and monogamy etc etc)

So, I have a specific idea of what I want. The vast majority of women do not meet it (many do though). I've had many many female friends over the years, who were great people, but who I would never date.

I have had dozens of experiences of talking to a girl and she says say one thing "wrong" (in passing, totally unaware) and in my mind I think "aww... nevermind". And I know I am no longer interested.

SO I'm picky. But so is the guy who won't date someone who isn't a 10/10 for looks.

Just make sure you know what picky means for your guy. It might not be what you think.

Not necessarily. I'm very picky about who I date but it's not because I'm picky. It's because a woman has to prove that she wants to date me. So most women fail right there. I don't want to waste my time with any woman that regards me as just another guy.

Means he's got preferences like everyone else? Skip the gossip crap and talk to him. You'll find out yourself if he's even really your own type.
