Why would my dad say the guy I’m seeing is going to break my heart?

I’ve been seeing this guy for a month and he is so handsome. He’s good looking but he’s charming, sweet and he works at a gym. He works out too but yeah. Plus he’s 6’3 (LOVE tall men). I’m average looking and not a bombshell. I’ll admit that I’m not gorgeous or pretty. I’m also chubby, fat (5’9), unfit and at 238lbs. I was actually surprised that my date finds me attractive. I introduced him to my parents and after my dad got to know him, he immediately said he doesn’t trust him. He said this man isn’t right for me and he seems too much into working out and into himself. My mom says I deserve someone who loves me for me and this guy doesn’t seem right. He ignored me when I spoke. She even noticed that he was looking at supermodels on his phone when I went to the restroom. I told my parents they need time to get to know him and dad said he doesn’t need to because I need to let this gym rat go and he’ll break my heart. My parents suggested my guy friend and give him a chance. The problem is I’m not attracted to him, he’s not fit or anything. He’s a nice guy but I keep telling him I don’t like him like that.
My mom said, “Oh come on. He OBVIOUSLY likes you. Every dance he asks you to go with him. You need to lower your standards honey.” No offense but my guy friend isn’t that good looking, he’s chubby and unfit. He’s the same height as me which is no problem for me.
Anyways even my friends tell me that I always dated men that are out of my league and I never look at the average men’s way and always go for good looking or model type men. Most people date l average people. They know our classmate has a crush on me for YEARS.

Im not even thin, gorgeous. I have a date and I'm going to continue to see him. Am I suppose to apologize for having preferences. I like men that take cares of themselves and their health. Not overweight, fat guys.
