Is he being friendly or is interested?

I did have lunch with a former primary school classmate who I have not seen in 15 years.

We were young then and ofcourse we remember one another from then and now, it's just strange to see one another evolved.

We did reunite, since a classmate of ours made a group chat while we both decided to see one another.

We did ask how each other were after all these years.
When it came to asking about a relationship he said he currently had someone.

He did pay for our lunch and he told me I can cover next time.

Our conversations were alive with intervals of joking, reminiscing, sharing, talking.

Is he being friendly or interested?

I am interested in him and the fact we knew one another as we were younger, but I cannot make a move since he currently told me he has a girlfriend.

But it did make me notice why he bothered despite having a girlfriend.

Could he be interested too but cannot make a move? Or maybe he is only being polite.

What should I do.

Honestly I see a tiny red flag here because : Why would he go out with another Woman like that while having a Girlfrend? That is disrespectful and it tells me a lot about him... I would not trust people that do this to their partners, because he will or might do the same to you in the future.
If he's unhappy in his relationship he should end that first...
On a different scenario maybe he just wants to be polite and friendly... but does his Girl know? so yeah , I would not continue going out with him due to him disrespecting his Woman (UNLESS SHE KNOWS) ...

Old school friends are not cheating. A lunch together isn't a step out of the relationship it's called friendships but if you're of the notion that men only see women as sex objects then of course that's why he was there and all the history is just an excuse because men have just one thing on their mind.

It has been 15 years. Everything you describe is considered “catching up” and you jump to “maybe he has the hots for me”. Ffs. 🤦‍♀️

Strangely enough this exact thing DID happen to me. After high school I left to go to uni get a job and so on and had had the hots for this girl when I left but never was in her scope. Met her when I was 29 and had a whirlwind romance (she was estranged and single parent status) but the getting it together for me was SOO on point. Became a disappointment after a year but was worth it.

If it's been that long then you've both grown and gained some life experience and that's often attractive especially if he had any sort of attraction for you back then BUT that was teenage lust and a lot of boys had something for a lot of girls they never did get the chance to experience while at school with. There is that old school desire that occurs in the adolescence of boys of who they'd like to "do it" with that never comes to fruition for 90% of us.
