It would just depend if she was willing to travel to me as well , the longest distance I drove to be with a girl I really liked was 4 hour drive , and she met me half way a bunch of times or she came to my area to visit her family as well, we ended up moving on together and got married and had kids’
10 ReplyEvery situation is different, like if you are in a big city, an hour might not be very far and either or both of you might move and end up closer together at some point. I guess it depends how permanent it is and how the two of you feel about driving that far (or however you travel, maybe in some places it would be a bus or train, but where I live it would be driving). I think living an hour apart temporarily might be OK. JMO!

1 yIts never too far for me. But ideally they’d be same city
51 Reply- 1 y
Yeah ideally it's the same city for me too but an hour isn't too bad either. Better than 2 hours like with my ex. 😏

m 1 yWell, I've seen a case where 28 hours away was not too far.
Time means nothing when the urge is there, time means everything when the urge isn't there? In many aspects of my life, if not all, I experience time in psychological terms, what the clock, objectively, says has not much impact since I don't live in an objective world.
10 Reply 963 opinions shared on Dating topic. 1 hour away is not too far, it's pretty manageable, especially if both of you have your own houses and cars, you can switch and one time you meet him in his town and another time he meets you at yours, or sometimes y'all can meet in the middle somewhere. It can work, it's not impossible if you actually like someone.
10 ReplyDepends on how much money you have to burn on fuel or the extortionate public transport to and from...

Luckily for me driving there isn't a problem for me. It's probably $30 for there and back. I have a Toyota corolla. I'm not sure how it is for him though. He has a dodge dart. I'm not sure how the gas is with those.
- 1 y
Yeah I probably will ask.
1 yit depends on you... I have nothing against to start to get to know each other while living far away... if we both are ready to live together if the relationship will progress... what means some discussions should happen early enough :D
30 ReplyAn hour is nothing in most places here in the US. Since it's someone new, I'd be sure to have a backup plan to make the most of the trip in case things don't work out.

8.4K opinions shared on Dating topic. after having a long distance relationship for 4 years I made a rule that 100 miles was as far as I would go.
15 Reply- 1 y
It's around 94 miles with the current guy. I think after dealing with my ex I made a deal with myself that I wouldn't travel more than 100 miles myself. It's just too much especially if things don't work out.
- 1 y
Wow that's a lot. I don't think I could ever do that much or ask that much of a guy I was seeing. But yeah a hundred miles is nothing.
- 1 y
@Simslover92 Looking back I do not know what ever possessed me to put myself through this. I could have found a nice girl who lived close by but instead I put myself through 4 years of misery.
- 1 y
I'm sorry. I guess you live and you learn.

10 Reply4.1K opinions shared on Dating topic. 47.3 light years
16 Reply- 1 y
@spartan55 NOOOOO... Much further than that.
For instance, as of today (24 MAR 2025), Jupiter is approximately 793,306,183 kilometers (5.302924 Astronomical Units) away from Earth.
The speed of light is 299,792,458 m/s.
So, let's make the numbers round...
Jupiter is 7.933 x 10^8 km = 7.933 x 10^11 m away... that is, almost 800 billion meters.
The speed of light is about 3 x 10^8 m/s.
So, dividing that distance by that speed, we get about 2644 seconds which is 40 minutes and 4 seconds.
So, that means that it takes about 2/3rds of an hour for light to travel to Jupiter from Earth.
Written a different way, we'd say Jupiter is 40 light minutes from Earth.
For light, Jupiter is 40 minutes away.
47.3 light YEARS is much different.
47.3 light years is about 4.4749584 x 10^17 m
The distance to Jupiter was about 7.933 x 10^11 m
So, 47.3 light years is like going to Jupiter over 564,094 times. - 1 y
