Why does everyone love to drink , smoke and do drugs? Do you guys partake in that?

Like I've been going on dates a lot lately and every woman wants to go fro drinks and to smoke. Even my friends love doing that as well. But I don't do stuff like that. Not looking down on anyone that does, it's just not for me. I can have fun without putting substances into my body. I just feel out of touch sometimes like should I like it?

There should be an option for "I don't do them anymore".

Culture within age groups and responsibilities plays a huge role. People with more responsibilities, which should increase as you get older but some of us have a lot more to start with, tend to prioritize those responsibilities. That can be health as well, but there's a very wide range of views on what that even is.

Some think getting that release in using any or all of the above is better for health than the stress of not letting it out once in a while (far more often than that for some). Others think it's better to find alternative methods for release. The former is more popular among younger people while the latter tends to be where older people settle after doing all of the above for a while, then give the younger people shit for doing it lol.

But really, don't get into something you're not interested in just because of peer pressure. Embrace swimming against the current. People come and go in our lives. Our health stays with us. How you go about that is your business.

Thanks I appreciate the reply and your very right. I've drank like maybe 2 times in my like and same with smoking just to try it and it's not for me. I'm very active so it would just slow me down

I like to smoke my tobacco pipe.

I don't drink alcohol very often at all, but I do enjoy alcoholic beverages, particularly good quality red wines. I also enjoy brandy, as well as gin, rum and tequila or cocktails containing them. Some liqueurs are really good, too. There is also port and dessert wine.

Alcoholic beverages have complex flavors and, to be appreciated, require a sophisticated palate. The buzz can be pleasant, too.

The only time alcohol is problematic is when you over indulge, become addicted, or do something dangerous when intoxicated. But if you drink moderately, it's not a problem.

I tried various drugs in my late teens and twenties. I never really got into them, though. Hallucinogenics - LSD, peyote, mescaline and psilocybin - were the only things that were worth having tried. I'm glad I did.

I smoked weed regularly for many years but quit.

I've never smoked or done any drugs. I maybe drink once a month or so, and it isn't much. It's been many years since I achieved drunk status.

Drinking is social, even if it just some wine over dinner. I would feel pretty stupid drinking Pepsi with a nice meal in a fancy restaurant.

A lot of people use that stuff a way to blow off steam.

I tend to enjoy the social aspects of MODERATE drinking. And I enjoy moderate smoking weed as a way to slow my mind down, relieve any physical pain, reduce joint inflammation, and forget about the stresses of the world without dulling my mind's edge the next day.

I used to be much more hesitant to use Cannabis when I was younger. But honestly, the more I learn about the plant (on a very scientific and academic level), the more I encourage people to consider using it to address certain health issues.

About 11.6% of the US population smokes as of 2022.

About 16.7% of the US population was battling substance abuse as of 2023.

About 62% of the US population consumes alcohol at least occasionally as of 2023.

Maybe you're not hanging out with the best people.

I live in Canada it may be different here. And I feel like statics are for people they could find what about the one they don't account for? Some of my friends do and some dont. But most people I see online or just out in the world do it. Or a lot of women I spoke to , always want to go for drinks

Because it's fun to leave reality behind and let loose sometimes. Let the alcohol open you up and not give a f. I do not drink that much anymore. But I'm still up for it once in awhile. Smoking , I do a lot. De-stresses , relaxes you , reduces body pain , makes You happy. Some of us don't have the easiest life either. Stress everywhere , like taxes and bills.

I do. I quit smoking weed in 2015 and drinking as well. I do have a beer now and then, but not too often.

Yeah, for sure. I had a chest X-ray almost two years because I was hit by a car while walking. I don't get the relation, but the doc insisted. She said they were clear and looked like a childs.

True. But as i said alchohol has great cultural significance. We have the oldest fruit bearing grape vine in the world. Its a whole event when it gets picked and its a tradition to drink a shot of schnaps in the morning.

Maybe its different where you're from but here , traditions like that are important to our identity as a people.

also met many more who do it, but do not love it... especially with smokes... I never really met someone who says "I love to smoke" they all hate to be addicted to it

I've been considering edibles or smoking on a more regular basis though, it helps with my anxiety. My partner, unfortunately, is a heavy drinker due to a past trauma.
