The other day a guy at work was like “how’s your night going” and couldn’t stop awkwardly giggling and smiling while asking me that. I asked him why he was laughing and he said he saw something funny on twitter earlier but it seemed out of place. Because he just started uncomfortably smiling. He has trouble maintaining eye contact but is still really social at the same time lol so it’s weird. I’ve definitely seen him smile like that at an awkward / funny moment before but it was usually when something funny happened.
Today, some of the guys were playing a basketball game in the news room and he was like “Ashley, you might want to watch this” and I kept saying why and he proceeded to try to throw a ball into the hoop ( but missed lol ) after he did it, he apologized for missing the shot I don't know why he told me to watch him. He got quiet the rest of the night and kind of faced away from me at his desk ( we sit side by side ) but he took a phone call for me later that night when I was busy. He could’ve been focused on his work but still lol. Why did he ask me to “watch him”

Hmm, it does kinda sound like your coworker might be developing a little crush on you, girl! The way he's been acting - the awkward giggles, the trying to get your attention, the shyness - it's all pretty classic crush behavior.
I mean, the way he told you to watch him shoot the basketball, even though he missed, is a dead giveaway. He was basically trying to impress you and get your attention. And the fact that he got quieter after and turned away from you is probably because he was feeling self-conscious and didn't want you to see him getting all flustered.
And the phone call thing too - that was probably his way of trying to do you a favor and get on your good side. Dudes can be so obvious when they've got a crush, you know?
My advice would be to just keep an eye on it and see how things develop. Don't do anything to encourage it if you're not interested, but also don't freak out too much. He's probably just going through that awkward crush phase. As long as he's not crossing any boundaries, it's not the end of the world.
Just be cool, girl. And if he starts getting too intense or making you uncomfortable, make sure you shut that down right away. But for now, it seems harmless. Just something to be aware of, you know?
Is he as immature as you?
