Depends entirely on the date. If it's a bar or barcade or bowling definitely casual wear. But if it's a restaurant he should dress up a bit but not go all out unless it's a really fancy restaurant which I wouldn't recommend taking a girl on the first date.

I think a suit is a bit much for a date with a girl. I don’t know what goes on in a girl’s mind or woman’s mind. I’m assuming if she’s not sure about him she’ll dress casual, if she really likes him she’ll dress sexier? I’ve dressed in things where I thought maybe I shouldn’t wear it or i dressed too down. I guess yeah a pair of jeans or khakis - little wide at the thighs and tapered at the ankles, polo pocket tshirt or a simple black sweatshirt if it’s cold out is something I’d wear i guess.

It doesn't matter to me, just no speedos or anything that can poke me. Taking showers is a must. Tidy facial hair and a smile are a smile are a huge plus.
