Why do men emotionally cheat and then lie and defend to the point of being faced with proof of lie but still deny it?

My ex has been emotionally cheating on me and denying it for over two years. Every time I catch him lying I have proof either a screen shot a dated message a secondary text now account. He has two phones says one has more storage that’s why he needs both. Often showers with them so I won’t see a message pop up or a notification. Claims he’s not talking to anyone online and when presented with physical data says he must have been hacked cus it’s not him

we are no longer together and yes it was 50% my fault for staying but in my defense I always believed him when he claimed that it was never him in the back of my mind I knew in my gut he was full of crap but manipulators are good at what they do sometimes and I was blind for far too long.

I agree I think we have become such an instant gratification world that a lot of us have lost sight of the work it takes. to make a relationship last and how easy it is to just decide to give up rather than fight for what comes from that hard work if we chose to put in the effort
