I think that’s just a natural psychological reaction some people have to being caught cheating, committing a crime, or any other form of dishonesty. Some folks will admit to everything once found out, and others employ the “deny til you die” strategy. If you don’t admit it, then you were never caught, and therefore were never wrong. That’s the mentality, I think. The human brain, specifically the ego, will do Olympic-level gymnastics to avoid feeling feelings of shame, embarrassment, fear, sadness, etc, etc.
