Dating a Dutch guy but he's not White. Is it still worth it?

So I'm dating this Dutch guy but he's not... White. He has very Mediterranean looking features he often gets confused for Turkish. I mean he is 100% Dutch but I guess he was born with darker complexions. His mom also has brown hair and eyes, Dad too.

Point being, my friends told me it's not really worth it because if I'm going to go through all the trouble of a long distance relationship, at least find someone blonde, tall and blue eyes like average Dutch guys. When I show pictures of this guy everyone says "huh? He's not Dutch! He's Mexican!" And it can be a little embarrassing that many people don't believe he's Dutch because of his looks.

He's a nice guy, but also doesn't have a job (another red flag). I would like some opinions. Have you guys dated men or women that didn't look like their nationality?

Yea. I'm not racist. So this wouldn't matter to me at all. Do you not understand the inherent racism, in being emberassed he isn't white? I do think you should break up with him. He wouldn't want to be with you, if he knew you felt this way. You need to re-examine your biases here (after you break up with this guy).

You seem genuinely oblivious to how disgustingly racist this is. It's hard to meet that with vitriol. But... this is super fucked up. (unless you're just an open white-supremacist. In which case, this makes sense)

What does it matter?
The question is, do you like him, and do you see a benefit from engaging in a relationship, possibly a shared future, or at least an improvement for both of your current situations.
If that is the case, go for it, and fuck what anyone else might be thinking.
Then again, your question sounds pretty American, and Dutch isn't exactly around the corner, so might be worth thinking twice how much of a relationship you can expect to have with such a geographic hindrance, especially if you are not already madly in love.

Well, if you are thinking of long term relationship then not only love but also respect is an utmost important factor. You said it yourself he is a nice guy but has no job means he does nothing so that means you will eventually lose respect for him. Yes it is a red flag indeed.

Shallow judgements if you're opting out because of long distance relationship/no jobs then it's your fault. A postive women will encourage his man and built sovenieur together. So it's not he who's the red flag love its you. I have dated a Vietnamese Russian Chinese and Japanese too. Recently in a fling with a Hungarian girl.

Well do you like him? I've had lovers of many nationalities; Irish, English, U. S., Egyptian, Caribbean, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Latina and they were all beautiful- different but beautiful, they were all great lovers.
