I have a situationship with this guy and I don’t know what to do?

As i said, i (27) have a situationship with this guy (29), we live in different cities which are around an hour from each other.
I know that he is into me (other people noticed, his body language says it all, he is really caring when we meet, he calls me with a sweet nickname only him uses and he treats me differently than the others), but the problem is that he NEVER texts me first even after i told him i would like to hear from him more. Everyone says that he’s a bad texter (he says that too), but this is really bad and confuses me a lot also because when we meet in person he is great and invested.

He is really sweet but also shy and extremely insecure, i also have this feeling that he kinda feels intimidated by me (people often describe me as intimidating), i also tend to be a little cold and it’s kinda hard for me to open up.

It is also true that we’re still in that situation were we know there’s attraction but no one have the courage to actually do something, like we never even kissed, the last time we saw each other he held my hands and hugged me but nothing more.

But my problem is: should i continue to text him first?

Last time i heard from him was last week and he said that in the near future he would be in my city for work and he would love to meet, then i decided to not text him again to see if he would text, but he didn’t.

One of my friends said that he’s toxic ad i should not involve with him, another one said that he could actually be just a bad texter and i should ask him to go out and when we meet talk clearly about us.

Any opinions/advice? Please help!
