What's with Ghosting? Why is it that people who claim to prefer open communication tend to resort to it?

I would imagine that even people who prefer open communication would be also "open" to closing communications.

No but if they don't communicate it, would they really be preferring open communication regardless of their claims?

The whole idea is that communication is open to say what you want to say.

Right, but that'd not just be open communication it'd be clear and honest communication. Isn't it the same, well I was approaching it differently.
I was saying that ghosting could be a form of "open" communication in that they're "openly" indicating that don't want to keep talking to you - by disappearing altogether. But it's not open in the sense that, it's not direct.

I suppose if that was stated as a form of communication then maybe. However, in most cases the women I've encountered, did not make it clear that it was acceptable. One time a woman accused me of ghosting her, even though it was the opposite. She even followed up by saying that if she didn't wish to speak with me any longer that she'd let me know.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. I wouldn’t know much but the way I see it, misunderstandings happen all the time and it’s communication that salvages it and clears it up. It’s not like anyone can mind read otherwise.
In my generation, ghosting is the norm and is its own form of saying “I’ve had enough of you”. Maybe it’s that fleeting to us though I don't know
People are probably likely to prioritise what they want out of you over what you want from them.

The same reason why people cheat on thier taxes. Thier reasoning "everybody else does it". So in thier mind that makes it ok.

They still consider themselves open communicators. They just decided to take the easy way out in that instance (or so they tell themselves. Most the time it isn't an isolated incident).
