Why are people ghosting too much?

This just happened even with a long time friend from HS I was trying to catch. The conversation seemed to be going well and she left me hanging, suddenly not replying anymore. She didn't even say bye I have go, or if anything offended her, nothing, just ghosted me.

The awkward moment when you think you're having a good chat and bang, ghosted, they read your messages but never replied back.

Why are people doing that so much? It's so irritating.

It seems that's the new language people do nowadays, ghosting. No manners at all.

People are just kind of self centered, they lack any awareness for how their behavior affects others, and they usually don't place much value on the relationships (hence the ghosting).
