What is with people ghosting in general?

Whether it's women who disappear inexplicably when everything seemed fine a second before, or sometimes I've been trying to close a business deal and they seem interested and then they never respond again... like what the hell?

People just don't want to deal with you or your bullshit. First, they might just ignore you, and if you don't catch the hint, you get completely ghosted. I'm guessing you don't catch the subtle hints or cues that someone really doesn't want to deal with you or really don't want whatever you're peddling. Salesman by trade?

Not everyone is going to be really really direct with their rejection. Think of a girl that says she has a boyfriend when she don't, or gives a fake number... why you think they start doing that shit? ... I think they start doing that shit because pushy assholes don't catch a hint and back off.

You'll learn to read people... or to become even more pushy. The reason I asked if you're in some sort of sales job... practice bleeds over into real life. It's why I refuse to do any sales or service-type work. I don't want to be some manipulator with friends and family or be some submissive slave wondering why I always get stepped on in society. Certain professions will make you a certain way unless you know how to check that shit at the door before you step into your house.

I deal with it in the media/publishing often. I pitch, get a bite, and then… nothing. At the end of the day, I believe it speaks more about them than it does about you.

The “ghosting” term didn't exist till internet trolls made a bigger deal out of it than it really is. In reality, it has always existed, it is just now something else people can whine about.
