I met a girl one night. She was the friend of a friend and we seemed to really hit it off. She was really pretty and smart. It was getting late and I offered to give her a ride home. She accepted the offer so as I was driving I was trying to figure out how I would ask her out. When we got to her place i want around and opened to door for her and I walked her to the door. I was about to ask her if she wanted to go out sometime when she invited me to a party that she and her roommates were giving. I told her that I would really like that. And suddenly she kissed me. I took this as a really good sign.

So Friday night rolls around and I show up at her house. She set me up in the living room with a beer then disappeared. As more people showed up this girl spent most of the time on the phone (the old kind that was bolted to the wall) and crying. She basically ignored me and I just sat in a room full of strangers and drank.

Finally I just got up, went out to my car and drove home. I never saw her again.

The one that comes to mind is a lady who I met at a wine event. She seemed friendly and pleasant. We exchanged contact information and I asked her out for a simple evening at a nice restaurant that she said that she liked. She showed up with a "sour face". Hardly interacted with me. Answered her cell phone while she was eating, and the lady who she was with when she and I originally met was the one calling. She invites her to our date. Weird, but kind of a good thing because she was funner to talk to than the one I was on the date with. I sent her an email the next day just to kind of "probe" to see what was up. I said that she came across as "not feeling well". She didn't address that but what she wrote back was all in lower case letters with no punctuation. She didn't make any sort of point with her email. Definitely weird.

It’s a toss up between (1) the guy who hit on everyone in passing on our way to the pizzeria then flipped out when I told him my college plan (bc he thought I was trying to “be better than him”)… hmm… and (2) the guy who was an hour late to brunch but couldn’t tell why the afternoon ended with a polite peck on the cheek. (I feel there were a few others but the summer heat is melting that side of my memory bank.)

I've told this story before.

After my divorce, I met this woman on a dating site. Her pictures and profile were nice. We chatted via text a few times and agreed to meet at a Chinese restaurant for our first date.
