I used to loathe being a bit nerdy and not really wanting a nerdy guy but the older I get, the more I see the appeal.

My ex fixes computers and I find that so hot. Something I wouldn't have found hot back in the day. I know I'm weird.

But anyhoo, do you think nerds have become sexy in today's world?

Maybe not everyone’s preference but certainly in control of their lives which can be attractive. Now those party people who simply adopt that look/ wear glasses aren’t really nerds. It’s about keeping to yourself most of the time and not wanting to attract a lot of attention to yourself. Many nerds are serious, mature and successful people with emotional balance which can make them great long-term partners as opposed to someone who HAS to go to a club or pool party or whatever overindulgent stuff they’re into. Now everyone may not find them sexy per se as they usually don’t spend too much time trying to look a certain way all the time and might even seem boring to outgoing and adventurous people but they certainly seem harmless, reserved, respectable and intelligent. Some people may even be attracted to how much smarter they are than themselves and respect that a lot. Finding them sexy depends on their physical appearance honestly because a nerdy man may still be liked but there aren’t that many fans of nerdy girls who are usually stereotyped as ugly.

"My ex fixes computers and I find that so hot" If someone told me that I'd read that sentence one day, I would not have believed them 😂 I believe a massive shift happened yes, in less than 3 decades, and I think it's due to the rise of Internet.  Internet belonged to nerds .  It still does . All the other guys and gals are NPCs pressing buttons randomly.  However I'm not that happy looking at how a few nerds in the herd found it funny to hog majority of assets. Screw them.

In the old days everybody i looked at needs as being homily. But that was the sexy part for me so in my own way I've always thought girl needs were hot lol

Nerds used to be the comic relief , stereotypically associated with glasses speaking like a calculator come to life , and being obnoxiously smart / into their own world, butt of the joke.

Now that we are more tech focused , fall into our own niches than ever before , and see the world in a less narrow worldview yeah I think the nerd has been reclaimed as “attractive”. Not ‘sexy’ obviously, but having attractive features that might score with the ladies.

I’m a Nerd , idc to hide it. Always was , always will be.

Could be, way back "nerd" was an insult. As time went by and people realized that these people run the world they became cool. That may change with the collapse of higher education and people associating being bookish and educated with communism and perverted wokeness. It's such a sad thing what's happened. Redneck hicks can out think anyone who doesn't know what a woman is. It doesn't matter how smart you are if you're not sane. I really hate to see this happen to our scholarly class. These should be gifted people , leaders that you can admire. Instead they're running around drooling on their shoes and calling them selves "non binary" or some other baby talk made up bull shit.

I don’t even know what passes for a nerd today. I mean, my ex once called me a nerd because I seem to know everything as she put it. She even gave me a nick named that is a play on my first name and “pedia”. Apparently how I carry myself didn’t quite square in her mind within the realm of “nerd-dome”. Again, her words.

If to go by the photos, I suppose ‘that’ look is what passes as vogue these day. In which case those with that look seldom ever seem to be all that handy. Not even with computers.

I haven't had that experience. I just read a post on reddit about swiss dating and the omen were like we don't want a guy who's even looking for a girlfriend because that means he'll accept any woman we want a spontaneous guy and I was like I'm autistic. When I meet foreign women online usually it's a bit easier to talk to them, a lot of swiss women don't have any patience or chill at all when it comes to dating.

Other areas of quality of life things are great here but dating I feel like everything got set to extra hard mode for me XD

I think the version of nerds that were unkempt dirty and wearing glasses having 0 upper body strength etc will never be sexy

But the modern day nerd is a well dressed well groomed guy or girl that probably goes to the gym and feeds both body and mind

These people are in fact very sexy because they have substance and are more useful than just filling up space
