Would I still be considered "childfree" if my brother and his wife die and I have to step in to raise their daughter so she would not be an orphan?

I am definitely "childfree" now because I do not have any children and I never want to have any children (for the record, I am a totally single man who is almost 50-years-old)... But I recently found out that my younger brother might have cancer and I think his wife might have some heart problems, so I have been starting to wonder what would happen to my 12-year-old niece if both of her parents should pass away before she reaches adulthood (my nephew is in college, so he is not really part of this "thought process")... I really do not like children in general, but I really do love my nephew and my niece almost as if they were my own (maybe it is because they are "blood relations" and they sort of look like me)... So, with all of that backstory out of the way, I want to know if my brother and his wife should actually die before my niece becomes an adult, would I still be considered "childfree" if I were to step in and raise my niece (I really hate the thought of her becoming a "ward of the state")? In case you are wondering, the main reason I want to know if I would still be considered "childfree" in this "theoretical situation" is because I am trying to find a "childfree" woman to date and I was wondering if I would be automatically dumped because I had to care for my niece...

Thanks for the feedback. I guess I better hope nothing happens to my brother and his wife, because my dating life will probably go "up in smoke" if I end up caring for my niece.
