The way I used to operate is I would just be nice and friendly to people. I say hi, but then I mind my own business. I'm pretty approachable, so if a woman is actually interested in me she'll usually find a reason to talk to me. It isn't the fastest way to do it because I never asked women out, but I also didn't get rejected either. I just tried to be attractive and friendly. Then see what happens. It worked for me, especially at parties.

Is she making eye contact with you, or avoiding it. If she's avoiding it, don't ask. If she's receptive she will return your looks. In that case, invite her to lunch or coffee or whatever after the gym.

Before you can ask her out, she needs to get to know you first. Hence first you should make an attempt to talk to her.
