I dont believe this is a question that can be thoughtfully answered in absolutes. There are some circumstances in which empathy would be advantageous and others where it would be disadvantageous. Understanding how another feels from their perspective isn't inherently a bad thing. Ultimately, it comes down to self-control- when and how you express it, rather than merely the experience of it.

It's not curse, but you do have to have good self control.

A guy has to understand the sheer amount of women predators out there today that would take advantage of his empathy. So always have your heart open, but also always have your guard up. It's a little tricky. But with practice it can be done.
