Why do men lack empathy these days?

Not all men and women lack empathy!
It’s way to rare these days for anyone to have empathy because the times are getting worse with war and inflation. People are just more worried about themselves and their own problems that they forget to smile or have empathy.
Also there can be various reasons like
Rough childhood, disturbed family life, bad social circle, maybe they were abused so much that they stopped caring about anything altogether, stress and depression are few among many reasons.

People in general have varying levels of empathy for different things. Empathy is not an essential component for survival. If anything, having too much empathy can cause people more stress & make their life harder.

And men aren't caregivers like how women are. Men provide. Before farming, the average man used to have to hunt & kill in order not to die of starvation. So obviously that foundation of behavior isn't going to produce sunshine and rainbows.

Since you failed to add context I’ll just presume. Men don’t lack empathy, they’ve just started to withdrawal from parts of society that casually expresses outright distain for them. It’s not specifically gendered, but many people are tired of being the ones to always bail others out for their horrible short sighted and poor decisions and are sick of being taken advantage of.

I think society is lacking empathy these days. We are in an information age and are bombarded with a constant flow of information hoping to gather our attention. It's overload and what ever chemical concoction our bodies give us that give us that empathy feeling has been wasted on nonsense

I would say men have a lot more empathy now than we did in the past. But I know that for me, I used to have a lot more empathy, but I just got tired of being treated like absolute shit by women. I personally have just gotten sick of being used as a punching bag.

It's really really difficult to be empathetic towards a group of people when so many of my experiences with that group of people have consisted of them taking all their personal baggage out on me.

People are only empathetic to situations they have experienced.
I'm empethetic to a lot of things, but Its not always going to be a validation.
Often critisim is the appropriate form of empathy.
One has to learn to think critically, even about yourself.

Wtf, are you talking about? Women lack more empathy than men. Just look at how most women treat men as a class and not biological distinction.

You can't even address reality properly because you can have two men on two different spectrums on two different sides and you somehow interchange what you don't like about the men between as if it's rational.

I don't look at everyone the same. But you view men as all the same. Shows how little empathy you have.

The word “empathy” has been redefined to mean “enable”.

When a man tells a friend, “Damn, dude, you really fucked up!” it’s empathetic if he can relate to the underlying emotion, but it’s not seen as empathy because it isn’t validating.

Women, on the other hand, rely more often on messages of empowerment which skirt the underlying emotion. “You’re better than that!”, “He doesn’t deserve you!”, None of this is empathetic because it lacks emotional connection. It’s enabling.

Because it's not rewarded. Back in the days if you showed care or empathy you could help someone or solve their problems and you'd at least have a genuinely grateful person. These days people are way too busy to discern your agenda, assumes you're only helping because you're really an asshole and returns your kindness by being rude, ridicule you, catch you on cam and try to make a point on social media and/or accuse you of harassment.
