I don't use them for any reason, HOWEVER I know married people who CLAIM to use them to meet people. One guy started hounding a relative of mine nonstop till they met up and became fast friends. Personally, I don't trust the guy and don't like that EVERY SINGLE THING out of his mouth has a dirty innuendo when he's talking to ANY female (even me, and I don't like him... or his wife... bc whenever I see them they have some story about how their kid has a broken arm or leg or whatever). The guy needs to get his head out of his a*s and tend to his son instead of chasing women down on the dating apps "to be friends".

Tbh I'm surprised there are people, who've actually made friends or even acquaintances through dating apps. Most guys there have the attention span of a 5 year old; they’re unable or unwilling to hold a conversation for long and most interactions are extremely superficial. I once downloaded one of these apps in the past just for $hits and giggles to kill some time not for dating purposes (I will admit it wasn’t the most honest thing to do) and deleted it soon after out of boredom

Only for dating. Using it for connections only works if you're talking to the same sex as yourself. But if you talk with the opposite sex, the only reason they're likely to keep in communication with you, is to play the long game.

Vacation. Shortly after my divorce, I wanted to visit a city I'd never been to before, but had no idea what to do there. I found a divorced woman about my age on my dating site that lived in that city and asked her if she would like to show me around. 95% of women that use dating websites are just window shopping. Most guys catch on to this reality pretty quickly and they either quit or just start using the site for entertainment purposes.

Oh I realize that. I'm just saying don't take ANY of it serious until you have good reason to take it serious. I'll advise any guy for starters to treat online dating as the inverse of real life dating. NEVER message a woman online first. And ONLY match there energy. Treat the rest as entertainment. That's what I meant.

Good point Pearl. Fortunately I currently have a very casual friends with benefits and when we do get together the sex is several rounds and incredible. But if I find myself with no sex then maybe a dating app or even Tinder might help in finding someone to have fun with

Some do and we stop talking, some still want to be friends after I tell them I’m seeing someone.
Some were in the same field as me, so our conversations mostly revolved around that.
