A self-respecting person (guy or gal) knows by the third date whether the person they're dating is relationship material or a "just fun"/friends with benefits sort of person. The fourth date thing seems odd to me... as if one or both people are just dragging things out. Most likely she's hanging out the extra date to (1) have a nice dinner with you someplace she's never been, (2) scope out the potential NEXT guy, (3) check herself that though she's not that into you it's possibly bc she's being too critical and could tolerate you at last as a short-term dating interest.

If she cuts loose after Date 2-3 it's just the natural process of things. If she waits till Date 4-5 she's kind of shitty and not worth your time or thoughts anyway.

I never knew "the rule" until I dated this woman. After our third date, she cut things off, describing a rule that most women have... "If there's no chemistry by the end of the third date, it's time to call it off".

Dang, I was just taking it slow so I didn't scare her away, and she was hot and gorgeous. If I had known the rule, I would have made my move earlier. After that, I always made my move on the second date. Sometimes that worked, sometimes it didn't.

Women are hypocrites but so are men. Instead of if ghosting at least tell the guy or girl that you are no longer interested because you are not compatible or tell them why. A little explanation goes a long way for both men and women. This will help people improve their lives vs leaving them hanging and questioning if they did something wrong. When I was actively dating I wouldn’t take that long to ghost, usually one date is good enough for me to know if we have chances of moving forward or not. I used to ghost when I felt we didn’t have that much in common or I didn’t like the guy that much.
