Confronted him about what exactly? There is some context to this situation that you are leaving out. Did he disable it because you saw him following his ex all of a sudden? Did he because he started posting content you find disturbing? Did he... you get my point. You have to tell us what you confronted him about and what the issue was or is. That will give us an idea as to how troubling the issue is. Otherwise it is anyone's guess how weird or normal this behavior is. Honestly I dont place too much value what people do online. A lot of things are blown out of proportion and social media cues mean very little. That said if he is acting shady or (lots of missing context) doing something that is obviously not in the best interest of your relationship then I'd find it weird and a red flag.

If he was and you found out and confronted him, then it is a pretty normal reaction I would say but beware. It does not mean that he will not look at those inappropriate content later when the smoke has settled. He may even create a new account and be more cautious this time and try to hide it from you.

The question is always why he was looking at inappropriate content. The reason behind it is the determining factor for his behavior.
