Would You Date Someone Much Older Than Yourself?

Question

I got talking to someone on a long train journey a few years ago.

I knew she was about 30+ years older than myself, but she was very attractive, and could have been only a few years older than myself, if I hadn't known otherwise.

With her wonderful personality too, I would have had no qualms about dating her.

Have you ever met someone like this.

Some people can get beyond the age difference and fall in love with the person for who they are and what they mean to you in your life.

Others get hung up on the age difference and miss out on the best match for a love relationship because they fear what people will think.

So, because of what other people think about the age difference, these two people have to miss out on a happy, loving relationship. This to me is very sad!

If there's a genuine attraction or chemistry why not? Great connections are few so why put the age limit as an obstacle? Life is only one and if we were to push away a great connection because of the age difference wouldn't or couldn't it be a missed chance at experiencing a bit of happiness?

If there was a really strong connection, yes. 30+ years older or younger, it doesn't really matter.

It would matter though if both are looking for a long term relationship. You're talking generation gap. When you are 40, for instance, she'll be 70.

I wouldn’t rule it out.

Age matters less than mindset, energy, and how two people treat each other.

Someone older can bring clarity, emotional stability, and a calm way of loving but the gap only works if both people meet each other at the same level of respect and intention.

For me, it would depend on the connection, not the number.

Much  older, no, my limit is 10 years difference. Even if we are a perfect match, more than 10 years is something I can’t get past - I’d feel like I’m dating my Dad.

I would prefer dating much younger :). Not some older women aren't attractive. Some are more slender that young women.

Generally older woman younger man relationships are transitory. We are not all like Macron and marry our teacher.
