If a beautiful 19 year old girl with a beautiful personality asks me out because she really likes me, should I say yes or no?

Is age just a number?

19 is an adult or no that is too young?

I never thought about asking out a girl that young at my age but what if she has the confidence to ask me out? What happens then? This is literally a hypothetical situation but I can see this happenning.

Just think beyond the attraction for a moment. Forget that she’s beautiful and think about this- once the crush/attraction wears off, what will you both actually enjoy talking about and relate to?

I’ve had crushes on men who were a decade older when I was 19, but I never dated one. Because I knew we’d feel disconnected after a while. I wasn’t even done with my studies, still figuring out what I wanted in life, and most men in their 30s had already settled into their careers and established their lives. They were 2–3 chapters ahead of me. I knew at some point that big of an age gap would become awkward for me and things wouldn’t work out because our priorities, experiences, and life stages were just different.

BUT if you think that wouldn’t happen in your case, then go ahead. Give it a try.

Also want to add- I feel big age gaps stop being an issue once both people are at least around 30. By then, they’ve lived enough, know themselves better, and are usually in similar stages emotionally. But when one person is still in their late teens or early 20s, the gap is usually too wide for long-term compatibility.

Apart from the actual age gap, which is not that big of a deal once both get older, there is also the question of expectations and maturity. I don't think you have the same view on things when you are 18 or 19 than when you reach 30 or 40. You settle in and, most importantly, you get to know yourself. That's a prerequisite to be able to love someone else and accept him or her for who he/she is.

Sure. Nothing wrong with getting to know her and seeing if you are a good match. I wouldn’t want that big of an age gap, but it obviously doesn’t bother her.

So if I was in your position I would kindly tell her so, and refuse her date.

I'm a young 31, with little experience with relationships with females, so in my case I would accept her invitation.
