Quick question, what is it called when you are the last person someone dates before getting engaged?

You date someone, you break up, the next person they date becomes their fiance then husband. This starts happening in most of or all of your dating relationships. What is that called? I think that there was a movie about it in the early 2000s staring Dane Cook; but I might be misremembering the production details.

Oh, I don't know. My one serious relationship after my divorce the guy's mom arranged for him to marry "the younger version of me" (from what folks told me), otherwise he would have married me; we'd talked about kids and agreed on all the serious stuff but one evening she showed up and made a big stink then shipped him off to meet his bride-to-be... bc she wanted "a pure virgin" for her kid and not "a dirty divorcee with children".

Hmm. As fate would have it, the gal was the farthest thing from a virgin and couldn't have kids. In the process he was also convinced that he was sterile. The mom and I are friends now, but if anyone asked me to take the guy back I'd say no bc I don't believe in moving backwards.
