Long time ago, before my 20-year marriage that ended in amicable divorce, we were engaged for about 9 months before the wedding. April to January, if I remember correctly.

2 years!
We wanted to marry after a six month engagement. But my wife would have lost her grant money for culinary school. So we waited 18 more months.
We had been together 2 years when we decided to get hitched!
We are coming up on our 31st anniversary.
