Do you sell yourself short?

When it comes to dating, do you sell yourself short and go out with "whomever" rather than with someone who can engage you at different levels and actually be a contender for a lasting, serious relationship?

No I don't even try to sell myself. I am just me if somebody wants to know about me. They can ask, or they can become friends and they can just watch and understand but I don't even try to sell myself, I don't need to be that person, I'd rather just be me. And if you want to get to know me , get to know me and you make that decision. But i'm still gonna raise my price l o l

I'd say all of my partners were decently intelligent, so I wouldn't say I was settling in that aspect. However, they did not have as many similar views as I first thought. The honeymoon phase always makes you see things through rose coloured lens.

You never know when you don't talk to that person.

Chatting won't tell you much about the other person. You even don't know if the person is real mostly.

The only way to find out if this person is interesting is to talk facw to face.

So I give mostly the person a try. So I can see and decide. See, hear, interact. Mimic...

It usually comes from self doubt or habit, not reality. The key is catching it and reminding yourself what you actually bring to the table.

Confidence grows when your self talk matches your real value.

When i was dating, i would not date women who were not above average in intelligence. I never compromise on that standard.

I'm old enough I don't want to go out with "whomever", but probably for a different combination of reasons than anyone else. 🤔

First, I want to be attracted to her face. I want to be able to honestly compliment it. Second, I have so extreme little dating experience I used to find it hard to even get to a point to ask to go on a date. Third, that and struggling with lifelong MDD makes it so I'm not attractive. ... Going to the gym and being a nice caring guy can only do so much.

I did, but not badly. We were both lonely. If I were doing it again I would have waited until I was able to relocate, and then done a very wide search.

No I think I have a pretty healthy ego... one I have to keep in check so selling myself short is unlikely.
