Only on a small scale. i always love reading the women's responses to this question because the actually believe the saying, "there's a lid for every pot".😆 This is true if you combine beauty with other factors. But your question is JUST about beauty. Beauty in it's purest form is objective. If this weren't true the world would NOT have Supermodels. The reality is we as a society DO have rules about what is attractive and what is unattractive. Thin is attractive, fat is not. Muscles are attractive, scrawny is not. Full lips are attractive, thin lips are not. Etc.. Now does that mean for example a woman like Courtney Cox with her thin lips can't be considered attractive? No. But this is where it gets complicated. Courtney Cox is not judged based on her beauty alone. And if you get enough people together agreeing Courtney Cox is beautiful. All of a sudden they can sway individual belief that she is unattractive based on conventional attractive norms. This is psychology 101.

So, the answer to your question is beauty is largely OBJECTIVE. But on a much smaller individual scale it can be subjective based on personal biases. For example say a woman only finds men over 6 feet attractive. But she is very poor judge of character and she dates one 6 foot guy after the next that are terrible guys. The guys uses her, f***s her, and tosses her ass to the curb. After a while she gets to the point that she hates every guys over 6 feet. She was wrong before, she's wrong now. But that's not the point. The point is it's her VIEWPOINT. The world of women as a whole can find men over 6 feet attractive. But do you see how her experience of choosing the wrong type of men over 6 feet soured her attraction to them.

This is how beauty works in a nutshell.

Disclaimer*** Now there are some men and women who are such followers that a woman could be the woman in the previous example. And now matter how many times she gets used, f***ed and tossed to the side she'll still find men over 6 feet to be attractive. Because these women, these types of people (because there are men like this to, we call them simps) that have no spine, no self respect. How the world thinks of them is everything to them. The joke is, the world has no respect for them. Because they have no respect for themselves. To quote the movie Ferris Bueller's day off "You just can't respect someone who kisses your ass, it just doesn't work".😆

Yes, most definitely! I have found this to be true so many times in my life.

I've dated guys before and my friends would say "What do you see in him that we don't see? He's not my type."

But that's because we all look for different characteristics in people. If you go for the obvious that the person is good looking and that's what matters most to you (physical attraction) and you don't take the necessary time to dig a little deeper, then you might have missed out on a person who could have been just right for you.

The old saying "You can't judge a book by its cover" holds the truth.

Yes… I do believe it but not in a black and white way.

I think there’s definitely certain things most people can agree are “conventionally attractive”… symmetry, nice skin, a healthy look, etc. Biology plays a role.

But someone’s smile…their energy… the way they talk… how they carry themselves… all of that can make someone who others see as “average” look extremely beautiful in someone else’s eyes.

Great question. I disagree with that saying. Let’s be honest, there’s a clear beauty standard. Blonde hair, blue eyes, white skin. If you don’t fit that, people never see you as attractive. And to be real, people always go for a blonde if they can.
